Prof. (Dr.) Geeta Chopra
Dr. Geeta Chopra is an internationally recognized voice in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE), Childhood Disability and Inclusion, and Child Rights. Across four decades while teaching at University of Delhi, she has moved seamlessly between university classrooms, policy tables, and grassroots action—translating complex developmental science into practical, rights-based systems for India’s children. As a Professor at the University of Delhi, Dr. Chopra brought ECDE alive for generations of students—training them to build observation tools, design developmentally appropriate activities, and create interventions that reached even the most marginalized children. Her pedagogy was hands-on, field-driven, and deeply anchored in rights and equity.
What began as a professor’s quest to infuse her classroom with purpose and practice has grown into a national movement. Dr. Chopra’s legacy is now being carried forward through her latest and most ambitious endeavor: the EveryChild EveryAbility (ECEA) Institute—a first-of-its-kind institution designed to professionalize ECCE practice, address system gaps in India’s early childhood landscape, and deliver impact for every child, regardless of ability or background.
Dr. Chopra’s work—most notably the Disability Screening Schedule (DSS), now embedded in India’s national ECCE curriculum for Anganwadi workers—has shaped national policy and international discourse. She has authored eight seminal books, including the forthcoming Systems Approach to Early Childhood Development: Bridging Theory, Policy and Practice (Springer, 2025).
At the core of her mission is a simple belief: childhood is the fulcrum of equity. A responsive, inclusive, and professional early childhood system is not just good policy—it’s a moral imperative. That is what ECEA now strives to build: an ecosystem where care, inclusion, and accountability are embedded into every interaction, every institution, and every community.
This platform offers a gateway into Dr. Chopra’s vision and body of work—whether you seek to collaborate in training, consulting, research, or advocacy. Practitioners, educators, researchers, and changemakers are invited to join the EveryChild EveryAbility movement and co-create lasting systems change—for India’s children and beyond.
